Chris announces a weekly guitar program he is starting at Open Studio, after giving masterclasses and regular classes there. One class will cover single-note soloing ideas and the other harmony, centred on Barry’s four scales of chords.

- 0:00Hello and welcome to Things I Learned from Barry Harris. And today I just wanted to make this quick video and discuss some super exciting news for myself and hopefully for you all. And that is the start of a guitar program over at OpenStudioJazz.com. I am so thrilled to be a part of this, but I’ll just tell you a quick backstory to let you know how we’ve gotten to this point. So about a year, a little over a year ago, OpenStudio reached out to me and asked me to do a masterclass, which I did and had a blast. After that, I did a second masterclass, which I also had a blast.
- 0:37And then we decided it might be a nice idea to have me more regularly. So I started teaching classes there on a weekly basis. And now I’m teaching three days a week. And it’s just been fantastic. The students there are wonderful. All the rest of the teachers there are fantastic. but it came about this idea that maybe we should do some guitar specific classes especially during the week so we’re starting open studio guitar pro where I’m going to be the teacher and we’re going to have classes on Mondays at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard and Fridays at 12 p.m. Eastern Standard

We’re going to be talking about, on one day, we’re going to be talking about soloing ideas, so just single notes, so we’ll probably get into fingerings and all sorts of things, different ways that we’ll look at scales. And then we’re going to have one class which is just going to be focused on harmony, which obviously since I’m going to be teaching we’re going to be talking about Barry’s four scales of chords so Barry’s ways of looking at harmony and I think it’s going to be fantastic so anybody that’s watched my videos over the years if you ever wanted to reach out and thought like hey I
