What Barry says
Asked whether he did much writing, Barry says he started giving big concerts of his own. The first had ten singers, ten strings and four guest soloists, and he thinks these were Slide Hampton (transcribed as ‘Slide Hamilton’), Clifford Jordan, Tommy Turrentine and perhaps Harold Vick.

Barry calls that concert the most successful he ever had: he sold enough tickets himself to make it work, and afterwards his concerts grew to fifty singers, fifteen strings and a big band.
Talking about records with Ted Panken, Barry says he prefers live recording, but he also had a good time recording with Pepper, Slide Hampton and Junior Cook, among many others.
In his own words
I think the guest soloists were Slide Hamilton [Hampton], Jordan – Clifford Jordan, Tommy Turrentine, who could be the fourth? Maybe Harold Vick, something like that.
My preference is the live recording. But I also had a good time recording with Pepper and Slide Hampton, Junior Cook
